12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Stephen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved, as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate and he throws from multiple arm angles but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

11/05/2017 - College PREP - Plano, TX Stephen is an athletic 2B prospect who possesses tremendous foot speed (6.60 60 time). In the field, Stephen shows quick footwork and uses his speed to cover ground. He fields the ball out in front of his body and has a clean exchange to throw. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Stephen can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He attacks the ball with an aggressive swing and works to make solid contact. Stephen can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Stephen is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
