Official Scouting Report

  • 2BPosition Projection

09/23/2012 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Steve continues to show that he is a consistent player. His foot speed has increased with him running his fastest 60 time at 7.19. In the field he continues to show sure hands and active feet. His fielding position is low and athletic. Steve can continue to work on a earlier presentation of his glove making sure he fields out in front of his body. At the plate, Steve continues to show a smooth simple approach. His lower half looks like it has improved but can still work on developing a stronger load and making sure his timing is a bit earlier. With hard work in the areas above Steve should see improvement in his overall skills

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Antolic continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and still projects best at 2B for the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to work to improve. Feet are active as he shows smooth actions and clean hands. He needs to play through balls more to continue to improve defensive grades. His arm strength has improved as well with carry and accuracy into his target. At the plate, Stephen shows a simple, solid setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a short, direct path. His swing path gets uphill as he needs to work on leveling out his swing to continue to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will continue to rise as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a 2B. On the mound, his fastball ranges from 75-80 mph. His changeup is best off-speed showing a solid feel for with cut and sinking action. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

10/19/2011 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2011 Stephen is a strong two-position player as a 2B/RHP. Defensively, he has an accurate arm and is aggressive to the play with the ability to catch anything he can get to. Stephen will continue to grow as a defender as he learns to get in an athletic ready position before the ball is put in play. With the help of his good bat path and level swing, he has a good idea of what he's trying to do at the plate. Stephen's power numbers should begin to grow as he learns to utilize his lower half. On the mound he has a short and quick arm action with a simple and repeatable delivery. His abilities on the mound will continue to develop as he learns to keep a direct movement to the plate and finish each pitch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
