01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Stephen is an athletic and solid 2020 SS prospect. At SS, Stephen is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and he has smooth actions to the ball. He creates good angles to the ball, he has a clean exchange, and he makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Stephen starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he looks to do damage early on fastball. He keeps the barrel on plan and he is a line drive hitter. Stephen is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Stephen is an exciting 5'9/165 lbs middle infielder with very strong hit ability. The 2020 grad performed well with Baseball Factory at the UAAAPS Tournament in January, displaying those quick hands and line-drive approach, at the dish. He had fluid move to hit that gave way to a short/compact swing, and fast bat speed. Defensively, with an athletic frame, Stephen moved to the ball well, taking a good first step to create an angle to get his hops. He had rhythm through fielding ground balls and got rid of the ball quickly. In all - we continue to be impressed by this sophomore middle infielder and are excited to see what the future has in store for him.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Stephen is an athletically built SS prospect who has a talented skills set on both sides of the ball. He is a competitor who leaves it all on the field. He is coachable and hustles at all times. Offensively, this RHH displays an athletic/square stance with fluid rhythm to load. He has great zone awareness tracking pitches in and not swinging at much that he cannot handle (drawing 4 walks at the event). Hands are quick as he zips the barrel with speed and connects with pop (exit velocity = 88 mph) as he hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. At SS, Stephen plays with fluid, active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the ball. He works fluidly from right to left, funnels smoothly to a clean transfer. He has quick lateral actions and can make the tough plays to his right and left with ease. Horn is a gamer who works hard day in and day out. Only a 2020 grad, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
