01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Stephen is a talented SS/RHP out of El Paso, TX in the 2023 class. He recently impressed scouts with his actions on the diamond at the BF Pre-Season All-American event. In the field, he displays confidence and smooth actions. Has a quick 1st step (6.97 runner) and takes solid routes and angles. Sinks his hips well and plays low to high. Exchanges are quick and clean and his ball has life (90 velo) and accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, he shows a fast arm and hides the ball well. His FB touched 82 and pounded the zone. His CB has feel and command at 66-71 and his change offers depth at 71. At the plate, he has a solid barrel path and quick hands (86 exit velo). Stays balanced and demonstrates line drive production. Overall, Stephen is a next level player and will make a great addition to a college program.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Stephen is a 2023 prospect out of El Paso, TX who continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting/power potential is now at pro level through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent as he shows smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body, gaining ground. Hands are clean and presents out front. He utilizes his outstanding foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (92 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/30/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - El Paso, TX Stephen is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.81 seconds. At SS, he takes aggressive routes to batted balls, with active feet, and showed ability to pick out hops. He works from down to up and fields from an athletic/square fielding position with a low funnel. Showed a glove angle with hands out front. Has a short/quick arm stroke in back as he throws from a 3/4 arm slot forward with an arm velocity up to 91mph. On the mound, he gets a good rear hip coil, with a clean leg lift, and showed a short/quick arm stroke. He works with good direction and rotates to his target. Attacks hitters with a FB that sits 82-85mph with good movement, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with tight spin, and a changeup with good movement that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and closed stance. He is centered at contact and has a middle of the field approach. Showed quick hands with ability to get on-plane early as he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 90mph. With anther year of growth and development, we foresee Stephen having opportunities to play at the next level.

09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase Stephen continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-Region tournament. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.97 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (92 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and works through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 86 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run and sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sharp break. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Stephen has a big upside and will get looks from collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Stephen is a 2023 SS/RHP prospect out of El Paso, TX who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. He was a team player who worked hard, hustled, and was coachable throughout his time in Arizona. At SS, he showed good rhythm to his actions and ability to cover ground. Creates good fielding angles and ability to play through the ball. Show good glove action and fields the ball out front. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with accurate throws across the diamond and an arm velocity of 86mph. Right-handed pitcher who gathers over rubber, with a good rear hip coil, and stays tall on the backside. He works with good tempo and repeats his delivery. Attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 82mph with good movement, an 11/5 shaped slider with tight spin, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. In 5 innings of work, he struck out 7 batters and threw 60% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate, this right-handed hitter begins with a relaxed and even stance with a comfortable hand set. He hits into a frim frontside, with good balance, and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. He hit hard line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 81mph. In live game action, he never made an out as he reached on a double, a single, and walked 6 times. With another year of continued growth and development, we can see him making huge strides on the baseball field.

10/31/2021 - All-In Membership - El Paso, TX Stephen is a RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. Athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At SS, starts with active/fluid footwork, with good agility, and ability to cover ground laterally. He shows good rhythm to actions, with ability to pick out hops, while creating good fielding angles. Works into a low fielding position with good glove action. Has a short/quick arm stroke, with ability to throw from multiple arm slots, and an arm velocity up to 91mph. Throws were accurate and on-line with a quick release. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and has level eyes. He separates his hands on time with a quick arm stroke. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 78-80mph with good command, a 10/4 shaped slider with medium break, and a changeup with good sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from an even and athletic stance. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. A flat barrel path enables him to hit hard line drives to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 77mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
