01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Stephen showed his best ability to date at the UAAAPS Event with Baseball Factory, proving the desirable upward trend of growth from outing to outing. Defensively, he flashed pops in the 1.9 - 2.1 range consistently, with a loose, accurate arm. He sat athletically to receive and was active with his feet to block or prepare to throw. At the dish, he started from a square stance and worked with fluidity in his move to hit. He kept his head quiet through contact and had a strong top hand allowing for consistently hard, line-drive contact. His simple actions at the plate suggest an ability to continue hitting as competition becomes consistently more difficult. Overall - Stephen is a junior that looks ready to jump into the season with a bang as a leader and a middle of the line-up threat.

05/17/2015 - College PREP - Brookfield (Milwaukee), WI Lund showed as a catcher and at 3B for the first time and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.34 runner. Behind the plate, pop times have really improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.08. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly through clean transfer / exchange. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, defensive grade are well above average with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. He attacks balls, plays through well and presents sure hands well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to use his lower half more. Stephen has a ton of potential with the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Lund is a young/athletic player with an excellent upside. He sits in behind the plate with quiet actions and soft hands. He works hard around pitches in the dirt and does a nice job of deadening balls off of his chest. Transfer is clean as he stays low to throw with strong/accurate throws on the bag. Offensively, he shows good balance and fluid rhythm to load. Swing path is level as he utilizes his lower half well. He gets good extension and finishes well. A team leader - Stephen has worked hard and molded himself into a solid player.

09/14/2014 - National Tryout - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Stephen again showed solid overall abilities during his last workout in Milwaukee. He is equally as good at both catcher and 3B. At 3B, Stephen has good body control, efficient footwork, and good pre-pitch actions. He fields out front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. Behind the plate, Stephen has quick lateral movements, a soft chest, and sure hands. He has good body control and an accurate arm to 2nd base. At the plate, Stephen is an aggressive hitter with a middle of the field approach. He has good bat speed, swings in good rhythm, and squares the ball up well on the barrel.

03/16/2014 - College PREP - Kenosha, WI Stephen is a (5'11/155lbs) two-way player that continues to have a solid skill-set (C/SS). At SS, he shows soft/sure hands and fluid footwork through the baseball. Stephen has excellent body control showing range both to his glove-side as well as backhand. Behind the plate, Stephen presents a low target and receives with a sure/soft mitt. When Stephen works in-line toward 2nd base his release point is consistent for accurate throws. Quickening his transfer/exchange will help to lower pop times. At the plate, he displays a square setup with active hands in his load. Stephen maintains good balance with a line drive approach. His swing path is short/direct to the baseball through the hitting zone. A young & talented player - looks like the game comes easy to him.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Stephen is a 2018 catcher with solid skills both defensively and at the plate. As a catcher he has solid footwork to compliment an athletic setup and build. Highly flexible with a quick release behind the plate with help him continue to excel defensively. Stephen will continue to hone his mechanics and continue to improve his ability to stay focused and look for ways to create more outs on the base paths (looking for more pickoffs). Offensively, Stephen possess a consistent ability to make contact and has good gap to gap power due to his plus bat speed. He will continue to grow as a hitter as he stays square to pitches and improves his ability on the base paths. Stephen is a very coachable player, looks to be very versatile and possess a lot of physical tools to continue to grow as a ballpayer.

09/08/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Stephen is a young, 2-way player with good skills. At SS, Stephen has soft / sure hands, fluid footwork, and he fields in a low / athletic position. He has good lateral range, he plays through the ball, and he throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. Behind the plate, Stephen has firm hands, active feet, and he squares up well to the ball. He blocks and receives well, and throws with life to 2nd base. At the plate, Stephen has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has loose hands, good barrel accuracy, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
