07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase
Stephen is a tall and lanky first baseman and spends time on the mound as well. In the infield, he has active footwork that allows him to play through the baseball, along with making accurate throws across the diamond. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to gain a feel for fielding the ball out in front. At the plate, he has an athletic setup and strong balance that allows him to spray the ball to all fields. His offensive tools should continue to improve as he learns to fire his back hip at contact to help engage his lower half. On the mound, he has good rhythm in his delivery and some good arm side run, along with a fearless attitude for pitching inside. His skills in the mound should continue to develop as he learns to keep his front side closed to help hide the baseball. As a 2013 graduate, Stephen has the opportunity to continue to develop his skills in preparation for the next level.

Stephen is a tall, athletic, projectable RHP / 1st baseman who will graduate in 2013. On the hill, Stephen has a long / free arm action, a controlled balance point, and he works in good rhythm. He keeps his shoulders level, he has good direction toward home, and he finishes in an athletic / complete position. Mound effectiveness can get better if Stephen can keep his front side closed and develop a breaking pitch. At 1B, Stephen has soft / sure hands, playable feet, and he moves well around the bag. He fields in an athletic position, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a loose arm with accuracy and carry to his target. Playing more low to high and fielding further out in front can help defensive grades improve. Offensively, Stephen has a square / athletic set-up, a proper load, and short / square stride. He has decent bat speed, his swing is level, and he can spray to all fields. Added bat speed, and not lunging forward can help offensive numbers rise.
