04/03/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Charlottesville, VA Stephen is a C/OF in the 2024 class. Behind the plate, he registered a 2.51 pop using a high ¾ release. Tracks the ball well into the glove with feel. Solid on his blocks and is quick to recover. In the OF, he makes the routine play with ease. Fields in a squared position and presents the glove out in front. Working to stay in-line with his throws will add additional carry. At the plate, he has a balanced set-up and a short stride. He loads his hands well and has a level bat path. Uses the whole field well and has the ability to attack the inner half of the baseball. Overall, he has time to continue to work on his game and become a solid college prospect.

07/12/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Stephen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times has improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.95 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup, sticks balls in the zone and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Stephen is a C/OF in the class of 2024 that has a passion for the game. At the plate, this RHH stands in the box with an open stance with the ability to work counts. He shows good coordination of his hips and hands allowing his barrel to get through the zone efficiently, recording his best exit velo to date (66 mph). Using his lower half more efficiently will help to improve power at the plate. Behind the plate, he sets up athletically and presents a low target. He tracks pitches into his mitt and frames well. Exchange is clean as he stays directional to 2B on his throws down. A long toss program would be beneficial to building arm strength. Overall, Stephen has tools with still a ton of time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

06/23/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Frederick, MD Stephen is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, Stephen sits in a low stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Working on his blocking technique can help Stephen improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and works to barrel up the baseball, using the entire field well. Stephen can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Stephen has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
