02/07/2010 - College PREP - Houston, TX Stephen is a two-way player as a catcher plus at 3B with a solid, athletic frame with projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is near above average as indicated by his 7.19 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in working in line to his target, showing proper direction with carry and accuracy on his throws. Pop times show a range of 2.03-2.11 and will continue to drop as he shortens his transfer / exchange. Receiving skills are above average but needs polish and refinement on his blocking skills. At 3B, feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with feet / hands. He makes plays but projects best as a catcher for the next level. Offensively, Tanksley continues to shine as he displays bat speed through a balanced approach. He shows a feel for the barrel, mainly to pull side due to long swing path. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Stephen has potential and will catch eyes of collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities. ***STEPHEN HAD AN EXCELLENT HIGH SCHOOL SEASON AS A JUNIOR, HITTING .507 WITH 34 HITS IN 67 ABs.
