12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Steve is a strong and athletic 2019 C/1B prospect. Behind the dish, Steve has efficient footwork and has good to back pick runners. He has good lateral movement and controls the ball in the dirt with his chest. Continuing to be in an athletic primary/secondary stance and showing a low target will allow him to work behind the ball. Having a clean exchange and a strong glove side will allow him to make strong accurate throws to bases. At the plate, Steve starts in an athletic stance, and loads his hands back into the drive position. He's aggressive on the fastball and uses the backside. Attacking the inside part of the ball and keeping his chest behind his front knee at contact will allow him to drive the ball to all fields. Steve is a hard working player and made several adjustments during the week. Steve will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
12/17/2017 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ
Steve is a big, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 1st base. Behind the plate, Steve has a good frame, he sits-in low and quiet, and his glove is soft. He looks the ball in well, keeps it in front when blocking, and has an accurate arm to 2nd base. Catching can improve with work on blocking, a quicker release, and added arm strength. At 1st base, Steve has active feet, he centers the ball well, and he moves well around the bag. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action with carry to his target. Softening his glove and playing more through the ball can help defensive grades get better. At the plate, Steve has an athletic set-up, a proper load, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/solid contact, and he can drive the ball into the gaps.
