01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) This athletic/projectable (6'1"/185) C/OF continues to shine every time that he steps onto the diamond. Offensively, Steven displays a crouched setup with a solid base and active hands to load. Barrel control is a + as he squares everything up, creating consistent/hard contact. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. Behind the dish, he sits in low/athletically with good flexion. Quick lateral actions allow him to body-up/center pitches in the dirt keeping them close in front. Feet are quick as he replaces well with a smooth transfer to throw - putting the ball right on the 2B bag. Azzaro is a gamer who has the tools that will easily translate into the next level.

10/25/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburg, KS Steven is an athletic C prospect who possesses great raw power at the plate (88mph exit velo). Offensively, this RHH leads well with his lower half and takes aggressive hacks. He gets good extension through the ball and produces strong gap to gap power. Behind the dish, Steven shows active footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is smooth and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through the 2B bag. Overall, Steven is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

09/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Oklahoma City , OK Azzaro continues to shine and progress on the diamond. Defensively, he sits in athletically with quiet/smooth actions. Transfer is quick with throws on the bag - pop times now at 2.08. With the bat, this righty has a tall stance with centered balance. Swing is quick as he engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball with pop. Steven is an athletic prospect who has the skills that will translate well into the next level.

08/02/2020 - All-In Membership - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Azzaro is an athletic RHH catcher who continues to progress. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and quiet actions, tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He sticks the ball and frames well. Lateral actions are quick as he gets around the ball and centers it off of his chest. Throws to 2B are on the bag coming from a clean transfer/release. At the plate, Steven shows a tall stance with active hands to load. He takes a hack, squares the ball up and has pop to his pull-side. Azzaro has the skills that will make an impact in this his senior year.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Steven is an athletic catching prospect that has good energy and showed versatility playing several positions on the field. Behind the dish, Steven starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and has good hands. He needs to continue to work under the ball and above the ball. In game Steven was a blocking machine. He anticipates the ball in the dirt, he leads with his glove, and has a "nothing gets by me mentality". When throwing, Steven has a good arm and makes accurate throws with a clean exchange. At the plate, Steven starts in a tall stance, with high hands, and he looks to drive the ball gap to gap. He keeps the barrel on plane and makes consistent hard contact. He needs to continue to loosen his hands and rotate his lower half. Steven is a leader on the field and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/15/2019 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Steven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.16 runner. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.24 range with accuracy on his throws. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball and shows a feel for the barrel through a solid line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Steve is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that played hard everyday. On the bump, Steve is a strike thrower and pitches to contact. He separates on time, gathers over the rubber, and accelerates towards his target. He needs to continue to ride his back leg toward the plate and work north to south in his delivery. Behind the dish, Steve presents a low target and tracks the ball into his glove. When throwing he has a clean exchange, he gains ground in his footwork, and he makes accurate throws. He gets a bit stiff and high with his chest when blocking. He needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt, lead with his glove, and be softer with his chest. At the plate, Steve is a contact hitter with a middle approach. He loads his hands back and keeps the barrel on plane. He needs to continue to get his lower half to balance, keep the barrel inside the ball, and create backside rotation. Steve is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Stephen is a two-way player who always competes his hardest on the field. He has made impressive strides, most notably in his blocking ability as he keeps everything close and makes tough plays. He is athletic behind the dish with agile footwork as he moves laterally to block. He works around the ball to receive with a firm wrist and gets rid of the ball quickly to second. At the plate, he shows fluid actions to load and launch. His lower half works well to rotate his core and he finishes on a firm front side to pray hits to all fields. On the bump, this right hander shows deception with his low 3/4 arm slot. He has control of his fastball to the arm side and can get ahead of hitters to keep them off balance. Staying in line to the plate will help him control the ball to all quadrants. Steven is an interesting player we want to keep watching.

09/16/2018 - College PREP - Parkville (Kansas City), MO Steven is an athletic, strong catcher who will graduate in 2021. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.37-2.58 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process but will benefit by creating better angles to center balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Steven has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
