08/25/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Steven is a 2B/C prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Steven shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Taking better angles can help Steven improve as a 2B. Behind the plate, Steven shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Steven can improve as a C by making a quicker exchange. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He drives through well with his lower half and produces solid pop to his pull side. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Steven improve as a hitter. Overall, Steven is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
