Official Scouting Report

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Steven is a 2024 C/3B prospect with raw ability and a passion for the game that is unrivaled. He shows advanced actions behind the plate with feel for the game and the ability to make himself a wall back there. He shows easy effort in his stance and secondary setup to be in a good receiving position. He moves well to cover ground and block balls to center with presented hands. At the plate, he is a good contact hitter with simple mechanics to get through the zone on an efficient path. He gets on time with his front foot and is balanced throughout his swing to cover any pitch thrown to him. Loading to a stacked position will allow him to launch with more bat speed and will lead to more base hits. Steven is a prospect we look forward to following as he continues his development.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Salem, OR Steven is a C/3B who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, he shows a solid/square setup and is efficient with his feet. He tries to work around and works hard to block low pitches in the dirt. Over at 3B, he takes a prep step and gets into a square fielding position on GB's. He moves well laterally to his backhand side and gives accurate feeds on DP's. With the stick, Steven sets up square in the box. He strides short to the pitch and looks to drive the ball back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Quicker exchange to throw
Catching
1. Present low target
2. Earn strikes
3. Accurate throws down to 2B
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
