Johnson continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this RHH shows good balance throughout his swing. He hits the ball where it's pitches with the ability to drive it the other way, utilizing his lower 1/2. At 1B, he is a large target who his fellow INF's like to throw to. He is sure handed, works around the bag well and can pick it cleanly. On the bump, Fb shows arm-side run coming from his deceptive 3/4 arm slot. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape as it compliments his FB well. Steven is a versatile player who can make thing happen in many facets of his game.

Steven continues to develop his game. With the bat, he has a quiet approach with good rhythm. Barrel delivery is on a level path as he squares the ball up and drives it with pop. At 1B, he moves well to his backhand and fields the ball cleanly. He has good bag awareness and moves to in-accurate throws well. On the bump, he has a fluid motion and fills up the zone, throwing strikes with all 3 pitches. CB has tight spin and is good out pitch. A talented player - Johnson has worked hard to get where he is today.

Johnson continues to show solid abilities on the diamond. At the hot corner, he show active footwork and good pre-pitch rhythm working into position behind the ground ball. He shows plus lateral range and has the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. Offensively, he shows an opposite field approach and lets the ball travel into the zone. He squares it up consistently and is a contact type hitter. On the mound, Steven solid mechanics and works downhill off of the rubber. He follows through well and finishes out over his front side. FB now tops out at 76 mph and he throws all of his pitches for strikes. Steven is a solid player who should have some success this upcoming season.

Steven is a lean 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup with balance / rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At 1B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and presents hands well out front. Hands are soft / clean as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to improve his foot work around the bag. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-74 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with slight break. Control is a solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Gabriel has abilities and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
