09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Cleveland, OH Steven is a 5ft 9/135 RHP/2B in the 2024 class. In the field, he shows solid range with active feet. Centers his body to the baseball with excellent glove presentation. His exchanges are quick and displays a fast and accurate arm. Shows good actions around the bag on his spins and feeds. Working to sink his hips in his fielding position will assist with the ability to read and pick out hops. On the mound, he shows a quick arm, pounds the zone and creates movement on all three pitches. His FB sat 71-2 with late run. His SL sat 63 with a sudden late break. His CH had sudden late depth at 71. In the box, he shows a compact swing from a crouched set-up. Stays inside the ball and barrel control. Can spray the ball around the field and if he can transfer his weight, he will create more bat speed. Overall, Steve is a hard worker who's willing to do what it takes to play at the next level. We look forward to seeing what the future holds.

07/10/2023 - National Showcase - Cleveland, OH Steven is a RHP/2B in the 2024 class. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber well and separates his hands on-time. Arm is quick and he reaches out to his target. His FB has command at 71 and shows late arm side run. His CB sat 62 and has fb arm speed for deception. His CH has late sink and needs to be under his FB speed. In the field, he plays with energy and is trusted to make the routine play with ease. Pocket has feel and his throws are on-line. At the plate, he has a middle of the field approach with a quiet head. He shows to be a contact type hitter and incorporating his lower half will provide more balance and power.

09/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Steven ran his best 60 time to date, improving foot quickness. At 2B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 58 mph. Fastball shows sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this 2024 prospect.

07/12/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Steven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 57 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this 2024 Maumee, OH prospect.

08/17/2020 - All-In Membership - Columbus, OH Steven continues to work hard on his skills. At 2B, he is aggressive to come and get the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt and makes the plays. Exchange to throw is clean with accuracy to 1B. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to increase lateral range in the INF. With the bat, this righty displays an athletic stance with centered balance. He swings on-plane and looks to hit the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. More power will come as he develops more physical strength. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on the target, has smooth separation and gets good glove-side lead. FB ranges from 50-53 mph as he throws it for strikes. Breaking ball has 9/3 shape with good spin - 45-47 mph. Working to finish with more extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Only a 2024 grad - Steven still has a ton of time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Steven is a coachable RHP/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Spring Training at Pirate City. On the mound, Steven shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 51mph. Breaking ball sits from 41-42mph with 12-6 break. Being more controlled gathering to his balance point can help Steven improve as a pitcher. In the field, Steven is agile moving to the ball and makes the routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Steven can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting his hands activated in his load and shows good hip/hand coordination, producing solid contact to the opposite field. Getting his stride foot down sooner can help Steven improve as a hitter. Overall, Steven is a developing prospect who has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/04/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Dublin (Columbus), OH Steven ran his fastest 60 to date and also increased radar velocity during his last workout with The Factory. 60 time lowered to 9.3 seconds and arm velocity to 51 MPH. At 2nd base, Steven shows a good 1st step to the ball, he stays in front of the baseball, and makes the routine plays on balls hit his way. He shows good hustle, a clean exchange, and a consistent arm to his target. On the mound, Steven has good balance over the rubber and he works at a controlled pace. He keeps his eyes on target, stays direct, and finishes over his front knee. At the plate, Steven has a still/quiet head, a short stride, and good balance. He makes contact and works the middle of the field.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Steven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date. Fastball shows a range of 44-46 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops off speed stuff. At 2B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active/aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft/clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

08/05/2018 - National Tryout - Dublin (Columbus), OH Steven showed similar skills in Columbus as in previous workouts with The Factory. Defensively, Steven tracks the ball well, he keeps it in front of his body, and makes plays consistently. He presents his glove well, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency to his target. On the mound, Steven is around the plate with his pitches, he competes well, and has good direction toward home plate. At the plate, Steven stands in the box squarely with good balance, he has a short stride, and swings on plane. He puts the bat on the ball and hits with some strength to the pull side.

04/07/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Steven is a hardworking and talented prospect that made several adjustments during his time at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Steven starts in an athletic stance and has a short stride. He hits off a firm front side and stays balanced through contact. Continuing to load his hands back into the drive position and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to get extension through contact. Steven needs to focus on using his backside in order to drive the ball gap to gap more consistently. Steven will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/06/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Dublin (Columbus), OH Steven is a 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 2B, he takes a quick 1st step and gets into a square position when fielding GB's. He hustles hard on every play and tracks the ball well into his backhand glove. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber and keep his eyes locked in. He commands his FB in and around the plate as he separates on time and finishes in line towards home plate. On offense with the stick, Steven gets back into a good load. He tracks pitches well into the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
