01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kokoski has a strong look at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, and featured a well-rounded set of tools. his right-handed stroke was strong with very good bat speed through the zone. He maintained balance throughout his move, and coordinated his upper and lower halves very well in his delivery of the barrel to contact. This allowed for consistent hard contact and the ability to drive the ball with authority to the pull side. Defensively, he showed a strong and accurate arm and posted workout pop times between 1.85 and 1.98. He moved well from a crouch to block balls in the dirt, and showed sure hands to received. Overall, offers interesting offensive potential at a premium position along with standout catch and throw skills.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Steven is a thick, strong catcher that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.21 60 time. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 1.98-2.16 with a means of 2.02 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph at the arm strength station. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power grades through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displays gap to gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Steven has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
