12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Steven is a slender RHP/3B, who in his time at Pirate City, showed great competitive spirit and a willingness to be coached. On the mound, he featured 3 pitches from a high 3/4 arm angle, including a high 70's to low 80's fastball, an 11-5 sweeping curveball, and a changeup which was very deceptive and flashed some late downward movement. Mechanically, he showed fine balance and good direction to the plate, as he worked "north to south" down the mound. Offensively, he tracked pitches well and showed good accuracy with his barrel, as he sprayed the ball to all fields. Balance throughout his swing was a plus, however working to incorporate more of his lower 1/2 into his swing, by driving his back hip to the pitcher, will improve power to all fields. In the infield, he showed good consistency with his glove and arm, as he was reliable to make a clean play on a ball, then make an accurate throw to first base. Only a 2019 graduate, Steven has a very bright future in this game and will be exciting to track as he continues to progress on the diamond.
