07/06/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Steven worked out both on the mound and in the OF during his time in the Cape. On the hill, Steven keeps his eyes on target, he has good direction toward home, and rotates through toward his target. He has a loose arm circle and competes in the zone. In the OF, Steven has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and he takes good angles to the ball. He keeps the ball in front of his body and throws with good direction to his cut off man. Offensively, Steven has an open stance, a short stride, and he swings hard and aggressively. He stands in with balance and uses his lower body. Steven showed hard work and the willingness to improve while in Cape Cod.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Steven continues to show as LHP and at 1B for the first time at the event. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to square up and play through balls more with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 44-46 mph Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Steven is a LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this lefty throws strikes and competes. His fastball tops out at 46mph with good sinking action. Steven can improve as a pitcher by maintaining center balance as he gathers over the rubber and by separating his hands earlier in his motion. With six more years to develop, Steven has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Steven is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Steven can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher and by working a smoother load into his swing. With six more years to develop, Steven has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
