01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Steven is a 2024 SS who keeps improving with each event. He had a strong showing at the AZ Preseason and continues on the right trajectory. In the field, he reads the ball off the bat well and creates solid pursuit angles. Displays soft hands and loose arm actions from multiple arm slots. Incorporating his legs and driving to his targets will allow for further carry on his throws. Shows increased awareness on DP feeds and turns. At the plate, he hits with a firm front side and generates hard line drive power (83 exit velo). Is athletic in his set up and is timing is excellent. Steven raised his stock at the event and look forward to seeing his improvements soon.

05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Steven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying well above average hitting power potential through a squared setup. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power (80 mph exit velocity) driving to all parts of the field. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally and covers ground in the MIF. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Fastball shows good tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Steven is a young 2024 SS that showed well at the Rookie PSAA. At SS Steven shows fluid and active footwork as he reacts to the ball of the bat. His range is agile to the forehand and backhand fielding the ball low with athleticism. His hands are soft to a clean exchange as he creates momentum towards the target. His arm action is short and loose delivering the ball online with accuracy. At the plate, Steven sets up with an open stance loading with smooth rhythm and timing. He keeps his balance centered as he fires his lower half through. His bat path is direct allowing him to make square contact with a line drive approach. Steven is a talented SS that we are excited to see grow and develop.

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Steven is an athletic MIF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and shows the ability to barrel up the baseball and produce consistent line drives. In the field, Steven shows active footwork and gets into an athletic position. He fields the ball out in front of his body and makes accurate throws to his target. Overall, Steven is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Steven continues to shine on the diamond and did so again at the All-Region Tournament. With the bat, this righty shows a tall/open stance with smooth rhythm to load getting good hand separation. Swing is short/direct to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2 well. He squares the ball up consistently and shows pop to his pull-side. At SS, he has active prep and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He works fluidly right to left, gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw with accurate/on-line throws to 1B. Steven is a talented MIF prospect who has a bright future ahead in the game.

12/01/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sacramento, CA Steven showed nice all around improvements in his game during his last workout with The Factory. Arm velocity increased to 64 MPH, exit velocity to 67 MPH, as well as defensive and offensive numbers spiked. At SS, Steven has solid all around actions, active feet, and he fields the ball squarely. He has a presentable glove, fields out in front of his body, and funnels well; throwing with momentum to his target. Offensively, Steven has a crouched stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a direct barrel, gets good extension through, and hits from a firm lower body. Steven is a solid all around player who will only get better.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Steven is a lean, athletic 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared, crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 3 for 8. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 57-59 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 5 years to further develop, Steven has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
