Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Steven is a coachable RHP/3B prospect who showed well during the Southwest Championships. On the mound, Steven gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Steven operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 65-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 71mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Steven moves light on his feet and gets into an athletic position. He fields the ball out in front of his body and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them accurate with life through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a smooth swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball with authority. Overall, Steven is a talented prospect who has the skill set to produce at the next level.

04/11/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Steven is a tall 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Steven shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and works through a direct swing with plus bat speed, leading to consistent contact and great pull side power. On the mound, Steven gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a free arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
