12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Steven is a lean two-way prospect who plays loose and with confidence and is a fiery competitor. He is aggressive on the mound, pounding the zone with his fastball, looking to get ahead of hitters early and put them away with off speed. His delivery is mechanically sound with extension through his release and he repeats it well to get to a consistent release point. His fastball reaches 80mph with some late movement and his curveball flashes tight break in the high 60's. At the hot corner, he shows the fluid feet necessary to make quick movements and field hard hit balls. He shows a clean exchange and gains momentum on his release to make very strong throws to his target with carry. Working on fielding square to the ball will help him keep everything in front moving forward. At the dish, this RHH shows fluid actions to swing while maintaining good aggression to attack balls in the zone. He loads to a powerful bat angle and gets his front foot down on time to launch through the zone and make consistent contact. Steven is a player with good potential and we look forward to watching as he takes the next steps in his baseball career.

10/23/2016 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Steven is an athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he has a very repeatable delivery and displays loose, clean arm action. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 84 mph. Fastball shows a range of 81-84 mph. He shows a three pitch mix. Breaking ball ranges from 68-69 mph with sharp 11/5 movement. He maintains arm speed on his changeup as it sits from 70-72 mph with tailing action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path with extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Steven has a big upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the bump.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
