Official Scouting Report

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Stone is a projectable (6'0"/170) and talented 2-way player (RHP/OF) who showed very well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season event. On the mound, this strong righty pounded the zone with a solid 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH). He works the ball in and out and looks to get ahead in the count often. Arm acton is quick as hit FB tops out at 83 mph. Changeup has good sinking action and is thrown with FB arm speed. Curveball shows to be his best off-speed pitch with 11/5 shape and some good bite to it. In the OF, Williams puts his athleticism on display as he takes good routes/angles to work into position behind the fly-ball. Hands are soft, exchange to smooth and throws are strong/accurate into his target. At the plate, he stands in with a slightly narrow and tall setup. He controls the barrel well and takes a hack at pitches in the zone. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered as proven by his 91 mph exit velocity. An all-around talent, this 2020 grad has upside and will garner looks over the next year from coaches at the next level.

10/21/2018 - College PREP - Texarkana, TX Stone is a long, athletic built RHP/OF prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Stone creates tilt and pitches with conviction. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Stone has a quick, clean arm action and he extends through his release. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. Stone rotates towards his target as he finishes. He locates his fastball in and out with run movement. His changeup has similar movement and his curveball has good spin. Offensively, Stone has a tall, open setup with his weight on his heels. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Stone shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path. He gets good leverage and extension producing square contact. Stone is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Stone plays with effective pre-pitch actions and active footwork covering good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, square position. Stone has a clean exchange leading into a quick arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the baseball with momentum towards his target showing consistent strong throws. Overall, Stone has an above average skill and can take his skills to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
