Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Stuart is an RHP/3B out of The Woodlands, TX in the 2022 class who keeps trending in the right direction with the completion of each event. Recently at the AZ Preseason, he displayed solid actions to compliment his 6’2/190 frame. At 3B, he has the arm strength to produce strong accurate feeds across the diamond. Shows he can throw from several arms slots based upon the hop and area of fielding. Working with a wider base will allow his hips to sink and field more in front of his eyes. On the mound, he has a solid delivery with a loose ¾ arm slot. His Fb topped at 76 with running action. His CB sat 68-71 with 11/5 shape and early break. Maintaining his FB arm speed on his breaking pitch, will create tighter spin and more deception. At the plate, he swings with good intent and has fast hands (86 exit velo). He begins with a tall and slightly closed stance and gets square to the plate during his load phase. Shows the ability to use the whole field and get on base (4 hits) and had several load outs. We look forward to seeing what's next as Stuart enters his senior baseball season.

06/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Houston, TX Stuart is a 3B who will graduate in 2022. Tall frame, strong lower half, athletic build and plenty of physical projection remaining. At 3B, he starts with efficient feet and ability to make routine plays. Works right to left while trying to create good fielding angles while picking out hops. Gathers nicely and works towards target. Loose arm action as he makes accurate/on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot at 76mph. A right-handed hitter hits from a tall and closed stance. Square stride who tracks ball to barrel. Strength at contact, as he swings with intent, and hit line drives to all fields and a bat exit velocity of 81mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee Stuart having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Stuart is a projectable (6’2”/190) two-way (RHP/1B) prospect in the 2022 class. From the mound, this righty has a good presence and pounds the zone with strikes. FB tops out at 72, CB has 11-5 shape with good break, and CH is thrown for high volume of strikes. He competes and goes after hitters, challenging them to swing the bat. At 1B, he uses active footwork around the bag and moves well laterally. He tracks the ball into his mitt and has the ability to pick it. At the plate, Stuart crushes pitches on the inside and creates line-drive type contact. He shows a tall/open stance with good balance. Swing is direct as he engages his lower 1/2 well, connecting and driving the ball on a line. York has a solid skill-set with still time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Stuart is a coachable RHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City. On the mound, Stuart gathers over the rubber and keeps his shoulders inline toward the plate. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 57-60mph with 10-4 break. Lengthening his arm action can help Stuart improve his pitch command and velocity. In the field, Stuart makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Stuart can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and works to barrel up the baseball, driving the ball to his pull side. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Stuart barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Stuart is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/15/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Stuart is a tall, solid RHP who will graduate 2022. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66 mph. Breaking ball sits 55-56 mph with 11/5 shape and short break. Changeup sits from 60-61 mph but throws too hard, resembling fastball. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he shows a tall, closed setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Stuart has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
