07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) T. J is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. In the OF, T.J has an active prep step and attacks ground balls. He creates angles to the ball and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing to the bases. Continuing to work on his agilities will increase his first step quickness to the ball. At the plate, T.J starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and hits off a firm front side. He attacks the inside part of the ball and sees the ball deep into his contact zone. Continuing to get his front foot down on time and keeping his head down at contact will improve his pitch recognition. On the bump, T.J gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his target. He works north to south and throws two pitches for strikes. T.J is a hard worker and made several adjustments throughout the week. He will improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI TJ is an athletic RHP who can switch hit. On the mound, TJ has a good arm action, he separate on time, and has a fluid delivery toward home. He competes in the zone, and his off-speed pitches show well. At the plate, TJ is equally as good from both sides of the plate. From the left side, TJ has an athletic set-up, a good finish, and loose body actions. From the right, TJ rotates well through the ball, he gets good extension, and has some late bat whip. TJ can improve skills by working on the following.

Pitching
1. Extension
2. Finish
3. Direction toward home
Offense
1. Shorten swing
2. Let ball travel
3. Load/stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
