Official Scouting Report

  • C/RHPPosition Projection

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Tack continues to showcase well as a catcher and a RHP. Behind the plate Tack has sure hands, playable footwork, and a good setup. He gains ground when blocking and understands the importance of communication from the catcher. At the plate he has a squared setup, good load, and short stride. He uses his lower half well and stays centered with his balance. He has fast bat speed and gets the bat through the zone well allowing him to get good extension. Lots of power potential is there and will be fun to watch as he gets older. On the mound Tack has an explosive fastball that he pounds the zone with. He gets to a good balance point and uses his lower half well. He is able to repeat his delivery and attack hitters with his fastball and curveball.

03/10/2013 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Tack is a very exciting young prospect. Only a 2017 grad, he shows well both as a catcher and a RHP. He has good size for his age behind the plate and already gets the ball to 2B as low as 2.33. Some refinements to his footwork and exchange will help that continue to improve. At the plate, he has quick hands and hits the ball hard at times - especially to the pull side. He has a clean line drive bat path and shows all the signs of being a good hitter. On the mound, Tack runs his fastball up to 75mph and adds several other pitches to his repertoire. His curveball and slider are essentially the same speed with similar shape and both are effective, as is his change. His knuckleball is currently behind his other offerings. Overall, this is a player with a ton of potential who will be fun to watch over the next several years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
