06/24/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (MS) Tait is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at the CWS. In the field, Tait makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. He shows good glove technique picking throws out of the dirt. Presenting his glove to the ball sooner can help Tait field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load on time and works through a smooth swing, driving the ball from gap to gap. Tait can generate more pop off the barrel by engaging his lower half more. On the mound, Tait gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Tait operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 61mph. Breaking ball sits from 50-51mph with 11-5 break. Driving his lower half more can help Tait improve his pitch velocity. Overall, Tait is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Tait is a strong 1B/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Kalispell, MT. At 1B, he showed active feet around the bag working hard for his infielders. He fielded the ball out front with good glove presentation and made strong feeds to his targets. At the plate, he uses a square set up with a short stride and hand load to get in a strong hitting position. He works a line drive approach but flashed glimpses of power which will increase will more utilization of his lower half. On the mound, he worked a 2 pitch mix. He threw a fastball with tail that topped out at 59mph and a change up with good sink. With three more years to develop, Tait has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Tait is a 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. In the field, he starts on the balls of his feet and works around the baseball. He throws from an over-the-top release point and has good carry on his throws with an arm velocity up to 60mph. He flashes potential in the field but needs to improve overall athleticism to tap into that potential. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. He gets on-plane early as he sprayed balls consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 66mph during BP. A slight adjustment to his grip and incorporating his lower half will help improve his swing. On the mound, Tait works exclusively from the stretch. He separates his hands on time and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He strides in-line toward the plate with a controlled landing. During the games, Tait threw a FB that sat 51-53mph with good command. He didn't allow a hit in 2 innings of work. With five more years to mature and develop, this 2-way prospect has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Tait continues to show improvements on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. He is a quality receiver at the bag, displaying proper footwork. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 48-50 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws to hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
