Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Talon is a tall RHP/1B with good body language. On the mound Talon shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB combo. The FB is 83-84 with tail and the CB is 11-5 with sharp and late action. He has a good presence on the mound as he starts square on the rubber but slides too far across the mound to start his mechanics. He gathers over the rubber well as he works down the mound and separates getting good extension to the plate. Talon works his pitches in well and can improve by keeping better direction and quieting his mechanics a little. At 1B, Talon shows hard work as he works to the ball to get into a good fielding position. He fields the ball a little high but makes clean exchanges as he works to throw. His throws around the infield are accurate with good backspin. At the plate, Talon sets up in a square and athletic stance with comfortable hands. He gets his foot down on time with a controlled rhythm and rotates his core showing plus pop to the pull side. Talon shows potential to be a solid 2-way player at the next level and will continue to develop.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Talon continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and drives ball to deepest part of the ball park. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as well as he displays smooth / clean actions. He shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Slider resembles breaking ball. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/24/2019 - College PREP - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Talon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose / clean to the plate. He works through a quick tempo and shows a 3 pitch mix and throws strikes with all his pitches. Arm strength has improved as his threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a plus feel for pitch with arm side run and sink. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in improving stock on the mound. AT 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive and display proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows solid mechanics and controls all 3 of his pitches in the zone. Offensively with the bat, Talon displays a balanced/open stance. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
