11/08/2019 - 2019 UA Texas Fall Classic Underclass Participant Quick hands short swing. Showed gap to gap power. Defensively receives well, had a strong arm. Showed 1.98 pop time. Rice University Commit

02/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Houston, TX Tanner is a very young, talented two-way player who has advanced tools all over the field. His arm stands out (80mph raw velo) both on the mound and behind the plate throwing out base runners. He gains ground when receiving and sticks pitches in the zone. He is agile and athletic behind the plate to slide and block softly, keeping everything in front. At the plate, he takes aggressive swing with fast bat speed and shows pop to the pull side. His lower half works well to transfer power and he extends through contact to hit the ball hard consistently. On the bump, this right hander works with his tailing fastball up to 83mph and a 10-4 curve with good shape. He shows command of both offerings, working to both sides of the plate effectively and keeping hitters off balance. Tanner is an exciting prospect with lots of potential and a bright future.

01/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Tanner is a thin catcher with a solid frame. Behind the plate, Tanner has quick feet, he sits in athletically, and presents his hands well. He looks the ball in, blocks well, and has a quick exchange with accuracy to his target from a short arm action. At the plate, Tanner has an open stance, a short/square stride, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, has fast bat speed, and makes hard/consistent contact. Tanner is a nice young player and can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
