08/25/2019 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Tanner is a tall, lean RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74 mph. Breaking ball sits from 63-68 mph with 10/4 shape with tight spin and short break. Changeup sits from 68-70 mph with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential to be quality pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Tanner has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
