12/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Thousand Oaks, CA Tanner is a SS/C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame athletic build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Behind the dish, has an easy sit, with flexible hips, and has quiet actions. Works around the baseball and gains ground towards second base with good direction. He works thumb under baseball and keeps balls in strike zone. Creates good blocking angles and gets his chest over ball. Throws from a high 3/4 release point with accurate throws and an arm velocity up to 85mph and a best pop time of 1.87 seconds. In the infield, he works from right to left, with quick feet, and has good body control at baseball. Fields from an athletic fielding position, with soft hands out front, and gets rid of the baseball. Made accurate and on-line throws, with a quick release, and arm velocity up to 85mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Starts with a short glide step, with a small hand load, and showed good hands and barrel control. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With another year of development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Tanner is an athletic, R/R catcher who continues to show well and did so again at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and flexion. He presents a low target, tracks pitches into a soft mitt and frames well. Quick lateral actions allow up to body/center pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Transfer to throw is clean as he replaces his feet well, putting accurate throws on the bag. Offensively, this righty displays an athletic setup with an aggressive approach. He swings with intent, squares the ball up and has pop to his pull-side (exit velo = 82 mph). He is a leadoff type of hitter with the ability to see pitches and a knack for getting the barrel on the ball (collecting a 2B, a 1B and 2 RBI's at the event). Tanner also showed his versatility with his ability to compete on the mound. He has an effective 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) in which he uses to pound the zone with strikes. He is quick to the plate and doesn't give hitters time to get settled. FB cracks the mitt at 80 mph with good arm side run. CB has 11/5 shape with sharp/late action and CH has some run, complimenting his FB well. Dominguez is a gamer who plays hard and has the tools that will translate into the next level.

10/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Tanner is an athletic, strong C/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 1.96 range with accuracy and on line carry (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / easy actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls and playing through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and present well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Tanner has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
