10/25/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Tanner continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.25 runner. At the plate, power potential is now excellent through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing (87 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/01/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Tanner is an athletic and tall 2022 SS prospect. At SS, Tanner is on time with his prep step, he works around the ball, and presents a low/early glove. He has a good first step to the ball and plays through his backhand. He makes good feeds on double plays and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Tanner starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He stays balanced through contact, he has good backside hip rotation, and he shows power to the middle part of the field. Tanner will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
