01/21/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Tanner worked out at both SS and on the mound during his last workout in Mesa, AZ. Defensively, Tanner has sure hands, good range to the glove side, and his feet are playable. He has a short arm action, and throws with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Tanner has a long / loose arm, on-time separation, and level shoulders. He has good balance, he lands in a square position, and finishes completely. Offensively, Tanner has a square set-up, good balance, and he makes consistent contact. He swings in good rhythm and gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Tanner continues to show solid actions in the field. He does a good job presenting his glove out in front, his feet are active and shows good use of his top hand. His throws are accurate with good life. He can continue to work on his angles to the ball while playing through on his throws. In the outfield his hands are clean with fluid footwork, his fielding position is athletic and on time. He covers ground well but needs to work on playing through ground balls. At the plate, Tanner does a good job staying inside the ball with an on-plane swing path and good extension through the ball. His balance is stable but can work on more drive in his lower half making sure he finished heel over toe. Bat speed is fast with good contact, continue to focus on letting the ball travel. With year to develop before high school, Tanner shows a good foundation in his overall baseball skills.

01/16/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Tanner is a thin, athletic 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. In the INF, Tanner has soft / sure hands, playable feet, and he moves with good agility to the ball. He feet and hands play well, he fields the ball cleanly, and he throws with a short / loose arm accurately across the diamond. On the hill, Tanner has a good delivery, a long / loose arm action, and a controlled balance point. He keeps his shoulders level, he mixes his pitches well, and he lands in a square position. At the plate, Tanner has a square / athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He has fast bat speed, he makes hard / consistent contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Tanner currently projects best in the INF and he can improve overall abilities by working on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
