07/29/2013 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Tanner continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and showed in the OF for the first time. Currently, he projects best behind the plate for the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.61 60 time. He utilizes his athletic feet well in working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.04 range and displayed outstanding arm strength with accuracy / carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in getting good jumps and reads balls well off the bat as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed but needs to work to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a hard worker.
