08/10/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 2 Hudson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. He needs to stay on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in the MIF as he is a fundamentally sound defender that displays soft, clean, and sure hands in making the plays. Throws display accuracy and flash carry as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to build more arm strength. Offensively, hitting grades have improved to well above average as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. At the event, he was 4 for 11 with a 2B. Mental makeup is good as he is an awesome kid that works his tail off.

02/13/2011 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Tanner is a thin, athletic SS that will graduate in 2013. Foot speed is well below average as he will benefit by getting on speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the MIF. Feet are active and aggressive through a low approach as he attacks the baseball while playing through with his body. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he makes all the plays, displaying a plus backhand. Hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly and stay behind balls, displaying solid carry and accuracy on his throws. He shows off his athletic abilities on slow rollers as he is a solid all around defender. Offensively, Hudson shows a balanced approach and loads well with hands working through a level swing path. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he becomes more aggressive and finishes his swing. Tanner has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
