02/12/2012 - College PREP - Madison, WI Tanner is a young, thin, athletic 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Tanner has sure hands, efficient footwork, and he shows some athleticism. He plays on the balls of his feet, fields the ball cleanly, and he throws with a short / quick arm with accuracy to his target. Playing lower to the ground and not throwing against his body can help defensive tool grades get better. In the OF, Tanner has playable hands and feet and he works behind the ball well. He fields on the glove side, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long / loose arm with accuracy and carry to his target. If Tanner can play lower, get on top of the ball, and add arm strength, OF skills can improve. At the plate, Tanner has a tall / open stance, a short / square stride, and good balance. He has a simple / quiet approach, he makes square / consistent contact, and he can work the ball gap-to-gap. Swinging in better rhythm and adding arm strength will help improve hitting numbers.
