03/06/2011 - College PREP - Plainfield, IN Tanner is a thick, strong lower body and athletic catcher graduating in 2012. He shows a strong throwing arm with good carry and pop times around 2.11-2.20. He made accurate throws to second and shows good glove work and instincts behind the plate. He needs to continue to work on his flexibility to help lower his stance a bit and continue to work on his footwork to help his feet catch up with that strong arm. Offensively, Tanner has a square stance with no stride and good balance throughout the swing. He shows average bat speed and hit line drives to all parts of the field. He needs to work on his lower half a bit because he is partially anchored on the back side. Also, some pre-pitch rhythm will help him loosen up some instead of starting his swing from a dead stop position. This will continue to help him with his power numbers and clean up his timing a bit. Overall he is strong in both areas and with a few changes - will be someone to follow for the next level.
