Tanner is an athletic OF that also pitches. In the outfield is has quick feet, fields with sure hands, and plays through the ball well. He is aggressive with his approach, but stays under control with his body. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws with good life from the outfield. On the mound, Tanner works quick and has a good tempo. He pounds the zone with his fastball and curve. He has a big frame and hides the ball well making him a tough look for hitters. Tanner has a lot of upside on the mound, but needs to clean his mechanics up to make him more consistent. Offensively he has a smooth load, strong balance, and delivers the barrel with force. He made solid contact during games and has a lot of power potential. He is a line drive hitter that will only get better with more strength and should fit nicely at the next level in any lineup.
