05/19/2024 - National Showcase - Nashville, TN Tanner is an athletic 2B/C who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (6.96 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.25 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Tanner has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
