Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tanner is a RHP/3B that shows upside on the mound and in the field. Pitching, Tanner shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB combo. His FB sits 68-72 mph and the CB is 11-5 with good depth at 59-63. His mechanics are well rounded. He gathers over the rubber and separates on time as he works downhill showing a clean and loose arm action. He keeps good balance as he rotates to the target finishing with good extension. At the plate, Tanner sets up in a tall and open stance. As he loads, he keeps his balance centered getting his foot down to begin rotation. As he delivers the barrel, he takes a direct path squaring up the ball well with a line drive approach. At 3B, Tanner works hard to the ball off the bat taking great prep steps. The throws across the diamond are accurate and online to the target. Tanner shows the potential to deliver on the mound as well as at the plate, we look forward to seeing his progress.

08/10/2020 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Tanner is a talented/projectable (6'0"/150) 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the mound, he has a 3-pitch arsenal (FB, SL, CH) to challenge hitters with. He works tall and drives downhill, in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 73-75 mph as he works it in and out. Slider has 10/4 shape with good depth. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception - 68-70 mph. He pounds the zone and throws strikes. At SS, he hustles into position behind the GB and tracks the ball into his mitt. He gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. With the bat, this righty shows a square setup with smooth rhythm to load. He takes a hack, swings against a firm front side and hits consistent line-drives. Only a 2025 grad - Trider is a definite follow who has a ton of upside on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
