Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes and angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Tanner has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Tanner is an athletic OF who continues to fill out and physically mature. At the plate - this righty has quiet/simple actions with smooth rhythm to load. He squares the ball up consistently, driving it on a line back up the middle of the field with some zip. In the OF, Tanner covers ground with speed working lightly on the balls of his feet. He gathers well and gains ground toward his target with an aggressive crow-hop. Weekly has a ton of upside and will make an impact in this his junior year.

07/26/2015 - College PREP - Gillette, WY Tanner continues to work hard on his game. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and works in-line towards his target. At the plate, this righty stands in well and good balance and fluid rhythm to load. He has good bat leverage, whips the barrel through the zone and finishes well with extension. Engaging more of his lower 1/2 will help to unlock his power potential. A 2017 grad - Tanner is a well rounded player who should find success on the diamond.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Tanner is a solid OF/SS that showed good baseball awareness and feel for the game. He positioned himself well defensively, and made plays with a sure glove. He was fluid to throw and used his feet well. He has present carry and will continue to strengthen with a throwing program. Offensively, he gets his hands activated to hit and delivers the barrel on a level path. He is situationally savvy and works in the middle of the field. Overall - Tanner is a great kid that has a couple of years to increase his strength and aggressiveness for next level play.

05/04/2014 - College PREP - Lakewood (Denver), CO Tanner improved his foot speed at the event as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.44. He utilizes his quick feet well in lateral movements in both IF/OF, displaying range. At the plate, hands work direct to the ball, utilizing the middle of the field well. 07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Tanner is a young player whose work ethic and playing style are exemplary. In the infield, he has an athletic fielding position working from the ground up and has great soft/sure hands. His footwork is effective and he has good range, especially to his glove side. He can work on getting his elbow up and more on top with his throws. In the outfield, he has a quick first step and tracks the ball well on the run. Tanner does a good job of beating the ball to a spot and getting behind it, rather than drifting. At the plate, he displays great hitting fundamentals. His load, stride, balance, lower body, bat speed and path are all sound allowing him to consistently square the ball up. Tanner's hands work well staying inside the ball and he can drive the ball to all fields. He is aggressive, but needs to learn to drive the inside pitch. Watch out for his bat getting wrapped too far around his head. Overall, Tanner has lots of upside and can pretty much do it all. It will be fun to see how he progresses.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
