12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Tanner is a solid 2-way player who is coachable, hard working and showed well during his time at Pirate City. With the bat, this RHH shows a square/athletic setup with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. Quick hands fire the barrel to and through the zone quickly. He barrels the ball up and drives it with pop (exit velocity = 86 mph). Behind the plate, Wood sits in with flexion and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest and deadens the ball in front. Throws to 2B are on the bag with pop times remaining in the low 2's. He does a nice job being the vocal leader on the field - which is what you want out of your catcher. Tanner (6'0"/205) has a ton of upside and a solid all-around skill-set that will provide success on the diamond.
