10/23/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Tanyon is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Tanyon shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, creating good carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and hits against a strong front side. He extends through his swing with fast bat speed, producing strong line drives. Overall, Tanyon is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Tanyon is an athletic catching prospect in the class of 2023. Coming from a multiple sport background of baseball, football and wrestling we see body control, agility, mobility and strength in his receiving. He has soft hands and the ability to move the baseball within the zone to present borderline pitches as strikes. Working from a one knee down stance he stays low and works under the baseball well and handles the pitch outside his shoulders with smoothness. From his feet he can get his hips low to handle velocity and off-speed with a strong base. His arm is average strength, but with a quick release and footwork as well as above average throw accuracy he work in the low 2.0 range with consistency and will go even lower as his arm strength continues to develop. Offensively, he has a strength based swing that show the ability to drive a baseball to the pull side and as he refines approach and body coordination he will be a potential power threat from the plate. He profiles as a defensive first catcher with receiving, blocking and throwing all showing average to above average levels in college and an offensive profile that will lengthen a lineup and provide power from a premium position.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy- Session 1 (HS) Tanyon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with firm glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.31 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has great knowledge of the game. He works hard on the field with a lot of energy.

05/29/2022 - All-In Membership - Minneapolis, MN Tanyon is an athletic C/2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. Behind the dish, Tanyon sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He sticks the ball well and makes accurate throws with carry through the 2B bag. Moving quicker to block can help Tanyon keep more dirt balls in front of him. At 2B, Tanyon shows active footwork and creates good angles. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes on-line throws to his target. Tanyon can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half, spraying the ball to all fields. Working through a shorter swing path can help Tanyon barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Tanyon is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
