12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Houston, TX Tarren is a 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with some strength present and plenty of room to add more strength throughout. At 1B, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine, with active feet, and showed ability to close distance on balls. He plays with good body control and tries to create good fielding angles. He fields from a square fielding position with his hands out front. He showed good footwork on balls to his backhand. A long arm stroke into a high 3/4 release point, with consistent throws to second base, and an arm velocity up to 72mph. Showed good footwork around bag. On the mound, he showed ability to hide the ball, with a whippy arm action, and works both sides of the plate. He has a controlled landing and rotates to his target. Attacks hitters with a FB that sits 65-68mph with some arm side run, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball that flashed good depth, and a changeup with some arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. CB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. He showed good awareness of the strike zone and only offered at pitches in the zone. He tracks ball to barrel and utilizes all fields. A direct barrel path enables him to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 70mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
