03/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Tate is a LHP future pitching prospect in the 2025 class. Displays an impressive frame (6’0/155) and demonstrates the ability to locate both side of the plats with high frequency. He gathers over the rubber well and achieves a controlled balance point. Scouts were impressed with his clean arm circle and his ability to stay directional to his target. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ arm slot. His FB has tailing action and topped out at 73. His CB sat 61-2 and had 1/7 shape. He mixed in an impressive SL to compliment his CB and sat 74. His CH has great deception with FB arm speed and commanded the zone at 68-9. At the plate, proves to have a level line drive approach. He has centered balance and engages his lower half well. Overall, Tate’s dedication to the weight room and maintaining proper flexibility in his body will allow him to increase his velocity. This continued growth in his game will allow himself to be put on the college recruiting map in the very near future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
