07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Tate is an athletic and talented SS prospect that runs the bases well and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At SS, Tate has an active prep step, presents a low/early glove, and has good range on both sides of the ball. He's aggressive to the ball and plays through his back hand. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Tate starts in an open stance, loads his hands back, and has smooth actions in his load. His lower half works well and he attacks the inside part of the ball. He needs to keep a quiet head and hunt the fastball. Tate will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Tate is an athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities through an open / athletic setup. Hands are strong and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with zip across the diamond but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Tate has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
