01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Tavin is a team player who plays C/1B in the class of 2027 out of Wolfeboro, NH. At C, he showed the ability to get his thumb underneath low pitches and keep them true to the zone. He does a good job of centering the ball to his body when blocking to keep the ball in front of him. His throws were accurate due to clean exchanges and by gaining ground towards 2B. At the plate, he used a tall stance with a square stride to deliver the barrel on plane. His bath enabled him to hit line drives to all parts of the field. With 3+ years of development, Tavin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the ball field.

11/04/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City Tavin is a coachable C/1B prospect out of Wolfeboro, NH who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Tavin presents a good target to the pitcher and tracks the ball into his glove. He gains ground well on his throws and works to keep them accurate to the 2B bag. He is on time moving to block and covers up well, keeping dirt balls in front of him. Making a quicker exchange and long tossing can help Tavin make stronger/more accurate throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a small load and works through a level swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side. Tavin can barrel up more baseballs by loosening his grip on the bat. With six more years to develop, Tavin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Tavin is a 2027 grad out of Wolfeboro, NH who continued to shine with his baseball abilities at the Pro Select Training in Vero Beach. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 3.48 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Tavin as he enters his 7th grade year.

07/12/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Manchester, NH Tavin is a R/R catcher who graduates in 2027. Behind the dish, he sits in and tracks pitches into his mitt. Transfer is clean as he works in-line toward 2B on his throws down. Continued repetition on receiving the ball on pitches in and out will aid in his development as a catcher. Pop times will only continue to drop as he quickens his transfer and strengthens his arm. As a hitter, this righty stands in with a slightly closed setup and solid base. He takes a hack on a direct path and connects, as he has some pull-side pop. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path while engaging his lower 1/2 more will help to increase power at the plate. Herget is young and still has a ton of time to develop his skill-set on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
