12/02/2012 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Taylor is a lanky/athletically built two way player that will graduate in 2013. On the mound, the RHP throws 4 pitches with his curve-ball shown to be the best, with 11/5 shape and sharp action. His fastball tops out at 79 MPH and his change-up effectively drops in velo, sitting 66-68 MPH with arm side run. His fourth pitch is a slider that has sharp bite, but is not as consistent as his curve-ball. Taylor is competitive in the zone and changes speeds well. To improve on the mound, he needs to gather himself, find a repeatable tempo, and use his lower half more aggressively. At shortstop, he has active feet, is aggressive with his first step and plays through balls. He moves well laterally and has sound back hand mechanics. His hands are soft/sure, his exchange is quick/clean, and he is athletic and low in his fielding position. Taylor needs to continue to promote hands out in front of his body and following his throws. At the dish, he has an athletic/crouched setup, is short to the ball, has good barrel accuracy, and an explosive lower half. He generates fast bat speed and makes hard contact. Loosening his grip and staying extended through contact utilizing different contact points will make him an overall better hitter. In all, Taylor projects best at shortstop, but can also throw strikes and change speeds, the keys to success on the mound.
