06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (AZ) - 2009 Taylor is a young tw0-way player in the OF and on the mound as a LHP with a small, athletic looking body with a ton of athletic actions in his body. He shows a solid feel for the game and makes the game look easy through his actions. His body shows projection as he continues to physically mature and add muscle mass. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.91 60 time and he utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF displaying outstanding range. He can go get the baseball in his lateral movement. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process, displaying outstanding defensive abilities in the OF. Arm strength is solid average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. At the plate, Taylor continues to shine showing well above average abilities with near above average power. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating plus bat speed. He keeps hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields as he shows a solid feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat. At the event he was 9 for 14 with 2 2B, 1 2B, and 2 HR in which one was an inside the park. Burner has a solid feel for the game with tremendous makeup. On the mound, he competes and battles attacking hitters. He throws strikes and shows good tempo through his delivery. Abilities on the mound are average and would like to see him concentrate his work ethic on his abilities in the OF and on the mound. He will make a club better with his on and off the field abilities. With 2 years to further develop, Taylor has the makings to be a special type player at the next level and will get a ton of looks from the collegiate coaches.
