01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Taylor is an athletic 1B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Taylor takes a good first step and displays efficient footwork. He fields the ball out in front of his body with sure hands and makes a clean exchange, making accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He takes a short swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. On the mound, Taylor starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. Taylor shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph with cutting and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 52-55mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 56-57mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. With three more years to develop, Taylor has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Taylor is a tall, athletic built 1B/RHP prospect who has a feel for the game. Offensively, Taylor has a balanced stance with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with a fluid load and short, on-time stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Taylor shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path getting extension at contact. He is a line drive type hitter who produces hard contact and can drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Taylor plays with active, quick footwork and agile actions covering ground in each direction laterally. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position with soft hands. Taylor has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong, online throws across the diamond. Overall, Taylor is a versatile prospect who has a projectable skill set and potential to get even better.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Taylor continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 65-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is makes adjustments and is a great team player.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Taylor is a lean, 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Defensively at 1B, he shows solid footwork with good bag awareness. He gets into a square fielding position on GB's and can jump high to catch throws above his head. On the mound, this righty keeps his eyes on target and delivers from a 3/4 arm slot with quick arm action. He has a strong frontside as he delivers a FB that sinks down in the zone. With the stick, Taylor displays a square setup with fluid rhythm to load. He swings on a direct bat path through the zone and drives pitches on a line to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Field out in front
2. Develop soft hands
3. Attack the ball more
Pitching
1. Get to balance point
2. Stay direct
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Front foot timing
2. More lower 1/2 drive
3. Develop more power

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
