Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

08/03/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 1 Belec showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Rochester, NY. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver as he is a solid target. He attacks ground balls with his feet but needs to work on presenting hands more down and out front. Offensively, Terrence shows a solid setup and makes consistent contact. He increased his balance and stayed tall at the plate.

05/15/2011 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Terrence continues to show similar numbers to his previous workouts. Defensively he continues to show improvements with his feet in turning the double play, looking the ball into the glove and showing a good follow through on his throws. He needs to continue to work on a lower approach to the ball to help get his hands out front. He also needs to improve on better accuracy to his target when throwing. At the plate he shows an athletic stance with a short stride and balance throughout the swing. He shows ability to the pull side but needs to work on keeping his hands inside the ball to help with using the entire field. He also needs to improve overall strength, foot speed and arm strength. Terrence is a hard worker and enjoys playing the game.

01/14/2011 - Pirate City Spring Training - 2011 Belec continues to show improvements in all his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved as he displays carry and accuracy on his throws but will benefit by staying on a long toss program to aid in further development. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Glove action is solid as he presents hands down and out front showing soft, clean action. Offensively, Terrence shows a level swing path through a balanced setup. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered with power numbers continuing to improve as he learns to load more with transferring weight properly through the swing. He was 2 for 2 with a 2B and BB at the event.

07/20/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 3 Terrence is a young 1B with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Feet are active, displaying proper footwork around the bag but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball. Glove action is presented down and out front, showing soft, sure hands. Offensively, Belec has rhythm through a solid setup with balance. Swing path is level as he shows some leverage with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will increase as more overall body strength is developed. With 2 years to further develop, Belec has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
