Official Scouting Report

06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Terry is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. At 1B, Terry presents a low/early glove, fields the ball in front of his body, and makes the routine play. He's aggressive to the ball but needs to improve his footwork on double plays by creating a throwing lane and making more accurate throws for the SS to handle. At the plate, he is aggressive early in counts and has an opposite field approach. He has a strong lower half but needs to continue to stay connected with the barrel and get extension through contact. On the mound terry is a downhill thrower, with a tall backside which helps him to ride his back leg toward the plate. He works his curveball off the fastball but needs to be more consistent down in the zone to be more effective. Terry made several adjustments through the week which improved his confidence and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/07/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Billings, MT Terry is a tall (6'7") RHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, Terry gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes on target. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 47-49mph with 11-5 break. Loosening his arm action can help Terry improve as a pitcher. At 1B, Terry gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them on-line to his target. Terry can improve defensively by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and gets into his load well. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to all fields. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Terry improve as a hitter. Overall, Terry is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
